The
thoracic section of the spine is that which is located in the upper
back. It’s beneath the cervical section,
otherwise known as the neck, and above the
lumbar vertebrae. Thoracic disc herniation
is not quite as common as it is in the other
aforementioned spinal sections, because of
the different frequency and type of movement
in that area. However, thoracic disc herniation
does occur. Proper posture and regular back
exercises can help prevent injury.
When thoracic disc herniation does occur,
patients will probably feel intense upper back pain that spreads to the shoulders and neck and
possibly into the arms or legs. When conservative
methods are tried to no avail, PLDD can be
considered. Learn
more about PLDD.
